The duties of this position include:
Operating and performing maintenance on straight in-line trucks with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) of more than 32,000 lbs and truck tractor and semi-trailer combinations of 80,000 lbs GVW.
Operating trailers including enclosed vans, flatbeds, equipment trailers, lowboy trailers to 60 tons capacity, and occasionally other types of specialized trucks, tractor or truck-tractor combinations, which may include dual braking systems.
Driving vehicles on specific trips or on regularly established schedules and routes in order to transport material and equipment within government installations, and between government installations.
Maintaining trip records or logs showing time of departure, sequence of stops, time of return, trip mileage, fuel and oil consumption, accidents, damages, or traffic violations.
Independently operating Material Handling Equipment (MHE) rated up to 20,000 lbs.
Arranging cargo load for best support and to ensure the proper unloading sequence and, on occasion, may assist or direct the arrangement of cargo load out.
